Summer vacation

I cancelled my phone subscription at the beginning of March, and my bank account at the end of April. I thought I had handeled everything regarding that bank account. I was wrong. On May Day Eve my previous phone company informed me that the e-invoice from the old account would not work. It didn't even occur to me that I still had to pay for the previous phone sub. Now I have to pay extra for the paper invoice. And I don't know what the hell I'm going to get myself into, since I already paid that invoice, but the price of the paper invoice hadn't been added to it yet. I may have to go through an eternal loop of always paying a new paper invoice for a paper invoice.

I celebrated May Day Eve by finishing an essay and a PowerPoint presentation. Those were the last assignments of the spring semester, if you don't count the annoying retake exam. So it's summer vacation now! Of course I'd like to take some summer courses.

I "had" to eat chips in honor of May Day when I noticed that a big bag of them had expired. Well, they do go well with sour milk, but I don't think I'll buy them again.

Recently I found 7 pairs of sneakers in the wardrobe, only one of which had been used. I guessed that there must be a reason why I had stopped wearing them "halfway". I put them on for a May Day walk, and the truth was revealed. After the walk, the socks were torn at the ankles. On one foot, there was a big blister on the ankle, and on the other, on the little toe. So no more of those shoes. I guess I have to throw those shoes in the trash just because they tear one sock per walk, expensive walking.

I was going to start editing my first novel in honor of the summer vacation. During an earlier editing round, I already changed the "wrong" quotation marks to the right ones. But now the problem was that LibreOffice Writer changed the quotation marks to wrong ones sometime last year, and before that I hadn't had enough time to try to figure out why. So now I was getting nervous and ready to cry as I fought for hours with Writer's settings. I've already written about 13 short stories with "wrong" quotation marks. Well, I finally figured out that no other setting in Writer or even on the keyboard means anything if the setting AutoCorrect --> when typing is not on. So if I don't want autocorrection, I'm doomed to wrong quotation marks.

And only now did I realize that quotation marks are used differently in English and Finnish. In English, left- and right-handed are different, unlike in Finnish. Nice. I might want to write a Finnish and English document at the same time. So I would have to change the quotation mark settings all the time if I wanted them to go right. Well, they've been going wrong up until now. And for example, I can't stand the fact that in English you have to put a comma before the quotation mark.
