A new kind of crisis

The knife was twisted in my heart again when Zooplus sent me an email saying they miss me, and now I would get a discount. A paper letter. Maybe because after the cats died I banned them from sending emails.

 

 

Last week's trip to Lidl was a bit disappointing. I almost couldn't find any women's pink pyjama bottoms, which were the main reason for going. They had been hidden among the men's clothes. And you never know what is the right size, it's a complete guess. On the way home, I got splashed all over by a car.

Lost library card

And when I got home, a crisis struck when I accidentally noticed that I had lost my library card, it couldn't be found in my wallet. I had reserved a course book from the library and was already panicking, wondering what to do now that I can't get it. I just remembered that the last time I changed the library card pin code was so that my spouse could wait at the library during a trip to the vet. Well, then he realized that my library card was still in his wallet. Luckily, I went through the contents of my wallet for fun, otherwise I would have had a useless trip to the library and I would have been a bit pissed off. I can imagine the situation: I excitedly collect a bunch of books and go to the lending machine with them, only to realize that I don't have a library card. Oh, shit.

I even remembered correctly that the library's lending machines have been changed. Nowadays, you need a PIN code to borrow books. It's a good thing I changed it back in the summer. My decades-old PIN code had letters, and today's machines only accept numbers.

On my trip to the library, I also went to Clas Ohlson to buy some Heat Holders thermal socks. They only cost 10 euros a pair. On the way there, I started wondering if cash is still accepted there. Well, it is.

 

G-mail is gone?

I guess I'll have to give up G-mail, because I won't be able to access that account anymore. When they start requiring a smartphone for two-factor authentication. A bit annoying. I'll have to change everything back to Yahoo mail. I don't even remember why I got G-mail in the first place. Was there some problem with Yahoo? Probably.

Well, the funny thing is that you can't change the email address of a Google account. And Google is literally my life. What am I going to lose next? I already lost my Tradedoubler account.

Writing short stories

Last week I finally finished one short story. I was supposed to finish it a week earlier, but it was left behind when I had a seizure. And now I thought I'd get to work on my latest short story idea, but what happened? I got another new idea, and a third new one... I guess the ideas have to stop coming at some point?! I don't have time to work on my novels at all because of this. Well, I dream of finishing enough short stories to make a collection of short stories. I now have 9 short stories in English that have been finished and published on Amazon. I just finished one story that I came up with an idea years ago. Maybe the oldest of the current ones. It would be such a good pace to get one short story published every week.

Why it is so easy for me to decide that my short stories are done and ready for publication? Whereas I've been working on my first novel for decades, and I can never be satisfied with it.

 

World Animal Day?

I'm worried about my cat Kali. She has been living on dry food and dry treats for years, and now she doesn't want to eat them. Instead, Royal Canin's kitten mousse would do, i.e. wet food. I've been putting off placing the Zooplus order for a while, because I'm afraid that Kali might be dead by the time it arrives. Anyway, I'm drowning in cat food, and still I should get more so that it would be the kind Kali would like.

Kali has started channeling Olivia. She wants to go to the balcony all the time to check the temperature, has summer come back? But I'm terribly afraid that summer will never come again. At least not for Kali.

Kali has also started to have a pretty scary-looking sleeping position at times.

 

I used to do a picture post of my cats on my blog on World Animal Day, but now I won't do it. Before Tabitha's death, I was going to make a post about it under the title "Kuopio's Leaning Cat". We have a slightly crooked cat scratching post on the balcony...

The playing of Friday every day has started quite well. Because I realized to make it my goal to ragequit in every match... or that I don't even dream of escaping. I have to act like this so that idiots don't disturb my peace of mind. When idiots happen I just calmly ragequit. But it was especially nice when a Jason from Sweden did a ragequit because of me. SWEDEN HAS BEEN BEATEN

 

It had been a long time since I made an Iherb order, but now I got a 28 percent discount on everything. I really had to get lip balm, and you can't get that from anywhere else? When sending the package, Iherb claimed that it would be delivered by Matkahuolto. But soon a message came from Budbee that the package was coming to them. That could be a bit of a problem when, at least according to its website, Budbee does not operate in Kuopio. The package arrived in Finland on Friday, and after that the status was just "Your order is on its way to our nearest sorting center". Budbee took a WEEK to get the package to Kuopio within Finland. That is, longer than it took for the package to come from the USA to Finland... Well, miraculously, the package finally arrived, and by home delivery as it should.

Symptom review

Bad health again for a change. It is difficult to sleep at night for many different reasons. Heart beats too fast and is symptomatic. Left hand has had symptoms for longer, and now the numbness and tingling first spread to the right hand as well, and then to the legs. I can only hope that it was due to the stiff neck. If not, that's pretty bad. The blood wont circulate, even my fingers are completely blue.

 

Lately, I've been most worried about Olivia. Too often she has diarrhea and vomiting at the same time. One of her teeth visibly fell out some time ago. But she has plenty of appetite. I have added one more meal a day for her, it now she gets wet food four times a day. So again, the suspicion arises as to whether she could have hyperthyroidism. She didn't last spring.

 

I noticed to my shock that all Virbac kidney dry foods contain bentonite. Bentonite, which is used as a binding ingredient in cat diarrhea medicines. And that's what many cat litters are made of... So, if kidney failure causes constipation, is it really good idea to add constipation-exacerbating substance to cats' kidney foods? I noticed that there's bentonite also in some other cat foods. That would understandable only in food intended for a cat with diarrhea, not anywhere else. I no longer give Virbac to Kali, who has to be given a laxative every day. It's another one of the ideas of cat product makers that I just don't understand.

I noticed that Zooplus has Kali's kidney medicine Ipakitine. Because it is on the department of the dogs, I hadn't noticed that before. For a moment I was sad that I hadn't noticed it before, and that's why I hadn't included it in the previous Zooplus order that had just arrived. But then I realized that a 180 gram jar of Ipakitine costs 40 euros at Zooplus. Shocking price, everywhere else it's about half the price. For example, from the kivuton.fi online store, which is known for its high prices, you can get TWO 180g cans of Ipakitine for 33 euros. For a while, I thought that it wouldn't be necessary to order from Kivuton, but it is, mainly because of that Ipakitine. There you could also get horse cream containing benzyl benzoate, just in case of scabies. It's just too expensive, 55 euros.

 

I should order from Musti ja mirri again because I would get a 20% discount. The main reason for the order is the grain-free Natures menu wet food, Olivia likes it. And she doesn't like many grain-free foods. She would like to eat mostly real meat (chicken), but those foods are complementary food and not complete food. So, if Olivia ate only those, it would be so-called on raw food and would also need some kind of vitamin preparation. I would like to find some tasteless vitamin powder that would be suitable for Olivia. Now I've been grinding Vitalcat pills into the food for her.

Cat weight review

 

Tabitha's weight remains tenaciously at three kilos. Is the thyroid gland balanced or not? According to the schedule, Tabitha should have been taken to the vet for a thyroid check some time ago, but she hasn't been taken because she is doing well.


Kali weighs 3.4 kilos, so the fattening course was really successful. Kali is a small cat and by all logic it should weigh less than Tapsa. I have never weighed Kali before.


Olivia weighs 3.8 kilos. Already many years ago, the vet complained about her weight loss. I don't have any information about Olivia's previous weights, they were never put on the vet's card.

My advent calendars 2023

These days there are a surprisingly large number of tea advent calendars available. I tried to order a Moomin tea advent calendar with the food order from Prisma, but it was out of stock.

In Citymarket, on the other hand, there was an abundance of options, and my choices ended up with three different advent tea calendars. It was difficult to choose the number one, the remaining two ended up as replacement options. Well, in the end I didn't get the first option, but it was replaced by Forsman's tea Christmas calendar. Exciting to see a if I'll like any of them.

 

 

For the cats, I ordered probably the cheapest possible option from Zooplus, the Cosma advent calendar. Of course, it is also grain-free.

 

 

 

But a good week before the beginning of December, I noticed that Karppaamo would have a advent calendar with sugar-free chocolate... How many years have I dreamed of such a thing? I think I once had one when my spouse managed to buy one in Manchester. Now I would have gotten a 10% discount from Karppaamo because of Black Friday. But I decided that in my current income situation, it makes more sense to leave the vanities unordered.

 

 

 

Veikkaus scratch card advent calendar, which has become a tradition, I do not have now and probably never will again. How much will the sales of scratch cards drop when you can no longer buy them as a gifts?
