Streamlabs alternative: OBS Studio

September 28th, daylight

I started to get a little annoyed when I realized that I can't play the randomizer mod Biorand for Resident Evil games on my computer. Or I can't record my gameplay, which is the same thing. When Streamlabs doesn't recognize Biorand as a game.

So I thought I'd miss "September 28th, daylight" today!

There was already talk of getting my spouse to play for me, or playing on my spouse's computer.

Then I made the mistake of finally letting Streamlabs install an update. Big mistake. After that update, Streamlabs behaves every time I open it as if I were launching it for the first time. So I have to change all the settings every time. So the update was just an evil plan to force users to register/log in. I got pissed. Also, Streamlabs' gameplay recordings have started to be pretty annoyingly jerky.

Then I installed OBS Studio as an alternative, and started trying it out. It doesn't require any terrible adjustments to the recording window, it works automatically! Unfortunately, OBS doesn't recognize Biorand either... or so I thought. I changed the setting from game recording to window recording, and Biorand recording works!

AND... Unlike Streamlabs, gameplay recording is not jerky but smooth. So Streamlabs is going to the trash?

So maybe I'll get to play the beginning of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis today, September 28th, daylight. Then on September 29th, Resident Evil 2 in its entirety, and then the end of RE3.

I already thought I should get a new graphics card so I could record Biorand and get better gameplay video of F13.

And I also started thinking about how much I have paid to play F13? I didn't buy the game at all for the Playstation, just the couple of euros worth of DLCs. Okay, later I bought the disc version "as a souvenir" just to be safe. The Playstation pluses of the past few years have been mostly because of playing Friday. I bought the game and add-ons for the PC. The current Resurrected doesn't cost anything, of course.

If I had added the price of a new graphics card to this... And if I got a new graphics card, my current monitor wouldn't work with it either.

2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo

I wonder why anyone would want to live in Tokyo? Tens of millions of inhabitants. It would be a nightmare.

It was another tough week for a bench athlete. I missed most of the morning competitions because they were at night my time.

Right at the start of the games, Belgium managed to get bronze in the mixed relay. The team included Dylan and Doom. So sad that after the twins ended their careers, Dylan is now the only Borlee left.

There was enough drama in the preliminaries of both the long and short relays. In the short relay, Tortu was not in the Italian team. I wondered why not, but the reason turned out to be a muscle tear. Jacobs collided with a South African runner, and Italy did not make it to the final. But then I found out about the scandal involving Tortu. I have not managed to see any news about this in the local media. If I understand correctly (or if the machine translations are correct), Tortu's brother is accused of wiretapping in connection with Jacobs. Terrible drama.

During the introductions of the men's long relay final, I got another unpleasant surprise: Dylan was not in the team. The Belgian team without a single Borlee! How long has it been since the last time? I had to check if it was really Dylan's bad shape (since he was part of the mixed relay team), and it turned out that Dylan has a hamstring injury. USA got to the final through the back gate, and of course that meant that Belgium was left in fourth place again. Luckily, Botswana managed to win. Just when I said out loud that the Botswana anchor was slowing down, he said "hold my beer".

The championships ended in a rain scandal. I too wondered if those discus rings and the like could be covered.

The horror of food robots

I spent last week alone at home, and it was the last week before the start of the school year. In honor of that, I wrote, looked for cover images, and played on PS5.

The first days of writing went quite well, but then I made the mistake of starting to look for cover images for my writings on Pixabay, especially for the one I'm working on right now that I'd most like to finish. The working title of which is On the Beach, but it has to be changed because there's already a famous book with the same name.

When I went through tens of thousands of images, my eyes didn't like it. I finally had to stop because I felt so miserable. It's also a shame that the time spent looking for images is taken away from writing.

So first I suffered from eye pain, neck pain, and headache. And the next day I started getting nausea. I even dreamed that I was vomiting.

So that by the time the school year started, I could be in a state of sick leave.

So, when you're already nauseous anyway, what to eat when food feels nauseating? Where can you get protein and iron on a zero-carb diet when all meat feels disgusting? And an empty stomach makes you even more nauseous.

On Thursday, I rushed to the library before closing time to pick up my reserved books. It was a bit annoying that I couldn't reserve one book because it was in the library, and it was still there the night before. But someone had already borrowed it that morning. Exceptionally, I took 3 books from the free book shelf, one of which was on my list.

And I was in a hurry to also buy socks on the same trip, since Clas Ohlson also closes at seven. Maybe it wouldn't have been worth it, the price of thermal socks had just gone up by 3 euros. 26 euros for two pairs of Heat Holders socks.

When I got home, I was met with a frightening sight: a food robot. Of course, it stopped because of me, even though I tried to walk on the other side of the road. It hasn't been many months since a robot followed me all the way home, it didn't dare to pass me at any point. Pretty slow food delivery if it comes at my walking pace. Food robots are so pathetic that I don't understand how anyone can use them.

On Saturday I would have liked to celebrate the release of my debut novel, so it would have been a book launch, but feeling unwell and feeling like throwing up prevented that. I had big plans: opening a bottle of sparkling rosé wine, having a few drinks and going to a bar, but no.

I thought I wouldn't be able to play Tomb Raider 2 Remastered without cheats. I had always played the (original) game before only using cheats. At first I had great difficulty with the controls. I switched to modern controls when I couldn't accept that the jump button was the cube. Then I had to constantly google which button did something, like grab a ledge or dive. When I got through the Opera house level, I stopped, at least for now. It's a wonder I even got that far.

Autumn dress mania

Autumn came with a bang. It was literally the last moment to go on a cruise if you wanted to go on a summer vacation. Even a day later, it wouldn't have worked.

And exactly the same thing with my own health. I wondered about the swelling in my stomach after the trip, and a day or two later severe endometriosis pain began.

My computer screen has started to scare me. Sometimes it goes dark unexpectedly, and only comes back on when I close it and open it again.

Dresses

I bought dresses from online second hand store. Two dresses from the same seller saved on postage, the dresses themselves only cost one and two euros. These were on sale for a long time but nobody bought them. A black party dress (size 38) and a violet-gray sheath dress (38).

But then when I tried to buy the third dress (a black sheath dress, size 36), the online store wouldn't let me do that. Every time I got the message "Your bid failed. Please check the information you entered and try again." The product in question was on sale with supposedly safer service. It's really safe to buy when you can't buy at all. I then corresponded with their customer service, and finally I was able to buy the dress.

Then I was sad to find out that all these dresses are too big for me. The usual story, lots of clothes but nothing to wear. Too small, too big, see-through, too short, ill-fitting. I still don't know what to wear to my grandma's funeral.

Movies

This fall I would like to do many things, but they all cost (too much).

The book The Long Walk is one of my favorite works of Stephen King. I've been waiting for decades for it to be made into a movie. And now it's premiering on the day of my grandma's funeral. It's been many years since I last went to the movies, can you still buy tickets the same way you used to? I mean buy online and pick them up at the box office? But I hear that movie tickets cost 20 euros these days...

The last Downton Abbey movie is also premiering on the same day. But I hate a certain DA character so much that I can't stand it. Killed Sybil, fu.

Friday 12.9.: my grandmother's funeral, the premieres of The Long Walk and Downton Abbey, the release date of the Borderlands 4 game, the start of the World Athletics Championships.

The play Murder on the Orient Express will be performed at the local theatre this autumn, which I am always interested in. But the tickets cost over 40 euros. It's a bit of a shame that I don't have a student card, I could get a discount on many things.

It would also be nice to go bowling. I've never been to the new bowling alley here.
